cycle consisting of all
phases during which the
client organization’s business enterprise is
[re]engineered.

The typical objectives of the business engineering cycle are
to:
- Provide an overview to the entire business engineering
effort in terms of its phases.
- Provide overall organization to the assoicated activities
and milestones.
- Support top-level scheduling of activities, personnel,
and resource acquisition.
The business engineering cycle typically includes the
following phases:

Business Strategy, which is the first business engineering cycle phase
during which the new strategies and and architecture of the
customer organization's business enterprise are
developed.

Business Optimization, which is the second business engineering cycle phase,
during which the new strategies and architecture of the
customer organization's business enterprise are placed into
effect and continually optimized.
The following figure illustrates the business engineering
cycle including its phases and relationship to application life
cycles:
- Cycles and phases can be combined or decomposed depending
on the need for these stages to better map to engagements and
contracts between the various organizations.
