Work Products

The OPF repository contains the following set of predefined configuration management work products:

• Configuration Management Plan,
  which documents all project planning directly related to the configuration management activity.
• Change Request Form,
  which formally requests a change to a baselined work product.
• Configuration Identification Report,
  which formally identifies a project's set of baselines and configuration items.
• Change Control Board (CCB) Meeting Minutes,
  which summarizes a single meeting of the change control board (CCB).
• Configuration Status Report,
  which reports the current status of an application's configuration.
• Configuration Audit Report,
  which reports the results of a configuration audit.

Guidelines

• Different endeavors require different processes, which in turn will require different configuration management work products.
• Every endeavor does not require the production of every configuration management work product.
• Select only those configuration management work products that are appropriate for the endeavor.
• Selected configuration management work products should be:
  • Relevant.
  • Useful.
  • Usable.
  • Cost-effective.
