Metrics Work Product Set

Definition

The metrics set is the cohesive set of work products that may be produced during the metrics engineering activity.

Work Products

The OPF repository contains the following set of predefined metrics work products:

• Metrics Plan,
  which formally documents the endeavor's plans for collecting, analyzing, and reporting process and quality metrics.
• Estimation Report,
  which reports estimates of the size, effort, and cost of future projects or phases.
• Metrics Report,
  which regularly reports the endeavor's metrics.

Guidelines

• Different endeavors require different processes, which in turn will require different metrics work products.
• Every endeavor does not require the production of every metrics work product.
• Select only those metrics work products that are appropriate for the endeavor.
• Selected metrics work products should be:
  • Relevant.
  • Useful.
  • Usable.
  • Cost-effective.
