Work Products
Business Engineering
The following work products may be produced during the integration activity of a business engineering endeavor:
- Business,
which is a work product that models a commercial or industrial enterprise
that is the subject of a business process [re]engineering exercise
- Business Transition Plan,
which formally documents the
customer organization’s business
enterprise’s
plans for transitioning its business processes to implement its new business strategy.
System Development
The following work products may be produced during the
integration activity of a system development endeavor:
- Application,
which is a system consisting only of software components
- Integration Plan,
which formally documents the project’s plans for integrating the components of a system.
- System,
which is a major, functionally cohesive, executable, integrated aggregation of
components.
- Subsystem,
which is an integrated aggregation of two or more components.
Guidelines
- Different endeavors require different processes, which in turn will require different integration work products.
- Every endeavor does not require the production of every integration work product.
- Select only those integration work products that are appropriate for the endeavor.
- Selected integration work products should be:
- Relevant.
- Useful.
- Usable.
- Cost-effective.
