Quality Planning
Quality planning is the
quality engineering
task during which the other quality
tasks are planned.
The typical objectives of the quality planning task are
to:
- Plan the quality needs assessment task.
- Plan the quality modeling task.
- Plan the quality assurance task.
- Plan the quality control task.
A quality planning task may typically be held when the
following preconditions hold:
- The endeavor has started.
- The
quality
team is adequately staffed and trained in performing the
quality planning task.
A quality planning task is typically complete when the
following postconditions hold:
A quality planning task typically involves the following
producers performing the following steps in an iterative,
incremental, and parallel manner:
-
Quality Team:
- Determine the quality risks, goals, and objectives of
the endeavor.
- Determine the quality work products to produce.
- Determine the quality tasks and techniques to
perform.
- Determine the quality responsibilities of other teams
and roles.
- Determine the quality tools.
- Schedule the quality tasks.
- Produce the quality plan.
- Informally evaluate the quality plan.
- Have the quality plan formally evaluated.
- Iterate and maintain the quality plan.
A quality planning task can typically be performed using the
following techniques:
- Document templates and content and format standard.
A quality planning task typically produces all or part of
the following work products:
- Coordinate with the process team regarding the:
- Quality work products to produce.
- Quality tasks and techniques to perform.
- Quality responsibilities of other teams and roles.
- Quality tools.
- Coordinate with the metrics team regarding the
definitions of the quality factors and the selection of
associated quality metrics.
- Coordinate with the requirements team regarding the
responsibilities for (and the determination and specification
of) the quality requirements (a part of quality
modeling).
- Coordinate with the architecture team regarding the
responsibilities for (and the determination and documentation
of) the mechanisms for achieving the quality
requirements.
