Disaster Recovery Team
- Disaster Recovery Team
- a team that is primarily responsible for performing the
disaster recovery tasks
except for the
Disaster Response task
As illustrated in the preceding figure, Disaster Recovery Team is part of the following inheritance hierarchy:
- Type: Concrete
- Superclass: Engineering Team
- Subclasses:
The typical team-specific responsibilities of a Disaster Recovery Team are to:
- Prepare to deal effectively when a disaster occurs:
- Take steps to avoid suffering a disaster in the first place.
- Recover quickly and completely from any disaster that occurs.
A disaster recovery team typically inherits the
general team responsibilities from the
team method component.
A disaster recovery team typically consists of persons playing the following roles:
- Disaster Recovery Coordinator,
who leads the disaster recovery team and coordinates its tasks.
- Database Engineer,
who installs the databases in the data center.
- Hardware Engineer,
who installs the hardware components in the backup or rebuilt contact and/or data centers.
- Integration Engineer,
who integrates the hardware, software, and data components in the backup or rebuilt contact and/or data centers.
- Quality Engineer,
who independently performs quality assurance on the disaster recovery activity and quality control of the backup
or rebuilt contact and/or data centers.
- Security Engineer,
who ensures that the backup or rebuilt contact and/or data centers meet their security requirements.
- Test Engineer,
who tests the backup or rebuilt contact and/or data centers.
- Network Administrator,
who ensures that the networks in the backup or rebuilt contact and/or data centers function properly.
- Computer Operator,
who ensures that the applications function properly and that the backup or rebuilt data center is usable.
- User Support Agent,
who ensures that the backup or rebuilt contact center is functional and usable.
A disaster recovery team typically performs the following team-specific
tasks an incremental, iterative, parallel, and time-boxed manner:
A disaster recovery team typically inherits the
common team tasks from the
team method component.
A disaster recovery team typically produces all or part of the following work products:
- A disaster recovery team can perform its tasks for an:
- A disaster recovery team may not be part of the endeavor process if:
- An appropriate disaster recovery team already exists separate from the endeavor.
- There is no contact or data center to suffer the impact of a disaster (e.g., an Internet Service Provider is
hosting a website, the application is embedded).
